5 reasons why women love solo travelling

02/03/2020

In this day and age women have been at the forefront of everything. They’re taking risks and soaking in new experiences. Travel has always been a way to express and explore the independence that women have. The number of solo women travellers has risen exponentially over the decade. More than 35 % of women travellers have chosen to travel solo in the last two years and it is only going to get higher in the next few years.

The increase in these numbers has been due to the economic empowerment of women and their desire to explore the world as per their choice.

Here are 5 reasons why women love travelling solo

1.Self-reflection – Solo trips are a great way to think about life in general and get a perspective. Whenever life throws you a curveball, head out on a solo trip. I guarantee you will be back with a clear mind and clarity towards life. Travelling alone often shows you things about yourself that you did not know existed. An amazing way to self-reflect and a bit of self-care would not hurt anyone. Doing this will also give a huge boost to your confidence. Trust me when I say this if you can travel out alone then you can most definitely take on this world alone.

 2. Getting to know new people- travelling allows you to meet people for sure. However, travelling solo will give you the opportunity to get to know them better. When travelling with others you are compelled to spend time with them but when you are alone you have no obligation. You will be surprised as to how many interesting conversations you can have with strangers. You are in true terms a free bird. And remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

3. No adjustments– Travelling alone means no compromises and no adjustments. Solo travel means you don’t have to follow an itinerary that is designed by someone. You can do what your heart wants to do. You can sleep in late or get up early and hit the road. You don’t have to adjust to someone’s needs. You will be the master of your choice and do it without any guilt.

4. Explore new places– Every place you see when you travel alone you will see it from your eyes and yours only. No other opinions. See places you want to see and have always wanted to see. Exploring things alone is a life lesson on its own. Every place you visit will most definitely teach you something and these become memories for life. When you are calm and soaking in a new place the sense of achievement you feel is incomparable to anything in this world. Also, it makes for great stories to tell.

5. Stepping out of comfort zone – Travelling alone is almost always difficult. There are several questions that arise in one’s mind when choosing to travel alone. Would it be safe? Will I feel lonely? How will I manage? Who would I turn to for help? Once you get past these questions and step out of your comfort zone and take that trip it will change you forever. It opens you to the idea of taking risks in life and fighting your fears. The first time will be tough but once you get through it there will be no stopping.

Once you feel the high travelling alone gives you, it will lead to many such solo trips.

So, it’s time to get cracking on that solo trip plan and step out of your comfort zone, explore new places without compromises and guilt, meet new people and see what an exhilarating feeling it is.
