Bus service to start soon from India to Myanmar

The bus service connecting India and Myanmar will be starting soon. The road will be going through Manipur. This will improve India’s connectivity with Southeast Asian countries. This initiative is a part of the Look East Policy. This service will start on April 7th, 2020. This 579 km bus service will start from Imphal in India and will end in Mandalay in Myanmar. The discussion for this between the governments of both countries started 17 years back. 

The Chief Minister of the state N Biren Singh stated that a flight service will soon be commenced under the UDAAN scheme after getting permission from Civil Aviation Ministry. This bus services will be operated 3 times a week and might turn into a daily service depending on the demand from passengers. 

In Myanmar, the service will be managed by Mandalay-based local bus company while that in India will be managed by the Seven Sisters Holidays Company Limited. This service will increase direct contact in the citizens from both the countries and will boost health, education and tourism.
