Deepavali celebrations.

This November, The Song of India will unveil its latest handcrafted mithai collection and a 4 course tasting menu that is at the heart of its Deepavali celebrations.

Exquisitely Handcrafted Mithai

Traditionally, mithai-giving is a sign of strengthening friendship, a gesture of goodwill towards others and a definite must-have during Deepavali.

Chef Manjunath Mural and his culinary team uses only natural, premium ingredients sourced from India and around the region to handcraft their mithai. Beautifully presented in gift boxes, The Song of India’s mithai collection makes a stunning gift and has earned them a strong following amongst their guests and corporate clients.

Each year, the restaurant creates new limited-edition flavours and this year’s latest collection was crafted using nutritious superfoods for a wholesome, guilt-free indulgence. For a play on different textures and tastes, try the Pink Hibiscus, Wild Raspberry and Pistachio Extravagance where crunchy pistachios and almonds are complemented with floral and fruity notes from the hibiscus and raspberry.

For a boost in brainpower, indulge in the Butterfly Peaflower & Organic Coconut Blueberry Sensation. Native tequatorial Asia, the Butterfly Peaflower is renowned for its memory-enhancing abilities and is mixed with nutrient rich blueberries and macadamia nuts. The Yuzu, Warm Ginger & Saffron Sensation is a blend of saffron, a prized spice known for its multiple health benefits, along with yuzu, Mandarin orange peel, ginger bits, Royal Amarnath flour, chia and melon seeds.

Back by popular demand are the restaurant’s top three signature mithai flavours. Created with the pulp of the Alphonso mango, that is lauded as the King of Mangoes for its superior sweetness and rich flavours, the Mango Magnifique is combined with smooth white chocolate and gilded with precious silver. The Rose Royale is crafted from precious rose preserve from Lucknow and is a real treat for those who enjoy floral flavours. Those who prefer to indulge in natural sugars will also appreciate the crunchy textures of the Diamanté Delight, a blend of premium
Iranian figs, cashews, almonds and pistachios.

Says chef Mural, “During Deepavali, we celebrate both the festival of lights as well as our well-loved traditions. By ensuring that only the best, natural ingredients are used in our restaurant, guests can fully appreciate our traditional delicacies as it was meant to be enjoyed.”

The mithai selections are available in various gift boxes, starting with $45++ (for a variety of 3 selections of 15 sweets) to $109++ (an assortment of 6 varieties of 15 sweets).

Deepavali Special Menu

In keeping with tradition and the restaurant’s mission of presenting a “Journey Through India”, the special menu will highlight each region’s specialities. The dishes are prepared using clay pots and outdoor wood-fire burning stoves, designed to give guests the ultimate traditional countryside dining experience.

The Nagaland Bamboo Shoot Chicken (North-eastern India), is a hearty, flavourful broth that is a staple of the mountainous regions; while vegetarians will delight in chef Mural’s Spinach with Pressed Cottage Cheese (North India) served with kasundi, a mustard and cashew sauce that is popular in Bengali cuisine.

The Coorg Mangalorean Fish (Karnataka, South-western India) is creamy currybased dish of turmeric, tamarind and chillies that will complement the Bajra and Jwari rotis, freshly toasted traditional Indian flatbreads (Rajasthan, North India).

Lastly, Misti Dohi (Western India), a sweet, chilled yogurt fashioned as a crème brûlée will complete your meal.

The 4-course tasting menu is available during lunch and dinner from 3 to 10 November 2018 at $79++ per pax. A vegetarian option is available.
