Central Government extends Air India sale deadline by over a month

The Central Government of India has extended the date for completion of Air India sale by over a month and a half, due to the impact of coronavirus worldwide. According to the notice, interested companies, those are interested in purchasing Air India, can submit their bids for the national carrier by April 30, 2020. The earlier date for submission of bids for the national carrier was March 17, 2020. With the extension of the bidding date, the final dates for the announcement of bidders would now happen on May 14, 2020.

This is the second time the Central Government is trying to sell national carrier and is not taking any chances as a similar attempt in the year 2018 did not attract any bidder. The government does expect to find bidders for Air India this time and is quite confident that the coronavirus pandemic is unlikely to impact interest in Air India.
