Chef Sanjeev Kapoor will mark his presence on Akshaya Patra Houston Benefit Gala

On the 15th anniversary of the Akshaya Patra Foundation a 2016 Houston Benefit Event will be organized on Friday, October 7 at the Sugar Land Marriott which will be graced by the famous celebrity chef Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor, who will be the key speaker in the event. Actor Comedian Omi vaidya will be the Master of Ceremonies.

350 business, non-profit, government, and leaders from around the region are foreseen to visit and reinforce the organization’s mission of addressing childhood hunger and malnutrition and to promote education for underserved children in India.

The foundation was started in 2000, Akshaya Patra by serving 1,500 in 5 schools in Bangalore. Currently, Akshaya Patra is the largest NGO-run school meal programs in the world who feeds over 1.5 million children daily in 11,501 schools through 24 kitchens in ten states in India.

Madhu Pandit Dasa, founder of Akshaya Patrareceived the Padma Shri Award this year and was also acknowledged amongst the 50 Most Impactful Social Innovators in the world.

The foundation also was recently awarded with the Nikkei Asia Prize; the award is given to organization’s outstanding achievements who contribute for the region’s sustainable development.
