Food and drugs administration pulls up four food operators

The directorate of food and drugs administration (FDA) recently fined four business operators in Mapusa and Panaji for selling substandard food items.

Chhaganlal R Prajapati and Netaji Vithoba Kanade of the Duler-based Sunder Food Products were fined Rs 5,000 each for manufacturing and selling fried green peas that contained the prohibited synthetic food colors, tartrazine, and brilliant blue FCF. The sample was drawn by food safety officer, Atul Desai.

Similarly, Murlidhar Rai and Savita M Rai, owners of a canteen at the KTC bus terminus in Panaji, were fined Rs 2,500 each for selling buns that contained tartrazine.
