What Strategy do you implement to ensure the best standards of hygiene across all your facilities?

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: We have a very strict and diligent auditing process in place which includes daily check-ups and monthly detailed reports from government certified labs which are shared with all customers.

We have a hi-tech milking process involving automated milking, in-line pasteurization, and touch-free packaging eliminating human interference and the risk of adulteration. Daily lab tests further reinforce the commitment to providing 100% pure and natural milk.

With the elimination of middlemen and with a robust cold chain that ensures the milk is delivered in the healthiest possible form within a few hours of milk production.

We have in-house forecasting tools and methodologies that also help to predict demand for milk accurately and accordingly plan for timely farm expansions without any wastages.

Over the span of three decades, India has transformed from a country of acute milk shortage to the world’s leading milk producer, how ‘Happy Nature’ is working towards to become one of the most a valuable contributor to this sector?

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: India may have become the leading milk producer but our dairy farmers are still not getting the right price for their produce. We at Happy Nature are working closely with local farms to ensure that they get the best price for their production so that they can take better care of their livestock and make decent profits which they can reinvest to grow their business.

Good productions, as well as good reproduction, are two essential elements for making the dairy farming/business a profitable one. How you ensure the best of both at ‘Happy Nature’?

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: Good Quality of Milk production is dependent on 2 aspects – Good high-quality fodder for the cattle’s and Good overall Health and take care of the livestock, while the quantity produced at the farm is function of Good Reproduction cycle and timely conception by the cattle. Both of these are equally important to make a farm viable and profitable. We work closely on all these aspects with Livestock health being the most important one, because once you have a Happy Cow, not only will they produce good quality milk, but they will have better conception rate as well. So at Happy Nature Farms we give highest attention to our cow’s – by feeding them the best green fodder, giving them Mineral Mixtures with all natural diet and having a 24*7 pharmacist on the farm to take care of all medical needs.

How you claim the eggs provided by ‘Happy Nature’ as the ‘premium eggs’? What makes them ‘Premium?’

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: Happy Nature Premium Eggs are healthy, tasty & hygienically produced. The eggshells are UV sanitized and the eggs are sorted & graded based on weight. The birds are antibiotic-free & are provided with an all-natural feed. The resultant eggs are rich in protein & have a beautiful sunset orange yolk!

Artificial Insemination (AI) is very useful in a country like India where the availability of quality males (sires) is inadequate and has become the major hurdle in the way of dairy animals’ development.

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: Natural Insemination in a Country like India can only be done by large farms who have their own high-quality Sires, else all other dairy farms are heavily dependent on AI for getting the required reproduction cycle. There are a number of Government organisation like NDRI and even Govt Husbandry departments which are providing good quality semen straws to dairy farmers at a very reasonable price. In addition, a number of International companies like ABS, Denmark etc who are already supplying good quality semen worldwide also have established operations in India with their own breeding centres in India itself, so that they can also provide semen straw at a much lesser cost that previously. A number of Indian companies like Godrej Maxi milk are also working on new technology of Embryo Transplant to produce high quality Milking cattle.

What is your opinion on AI and how it is helpful for the brands which claim to deliver the best quality dairy products?

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: In my humble opinion, AI and making of best quality dairy products are not related to each other, for the reason that AI is more to manage reproduction cycle of a cattle, which decides the quantity of milk produced and not the quality of milk produced. So for making best quality dairy products the focus needs to be on the nutrition given to the cow and the farm practices on how well the farms is doing in terms of reduction of somatic cell counts, antibiotic residue and aphlatoxin presence in the milk. A good farm will ensure a high quality balanced nutrition for the animals during every stage of their milking cycle and maintain constant testing of cows for Mastitis and other such diseases and use of homeopathic rather than antibiotic to treat these issues at the early stage itself.

What Research and Development strategy you implement before the expansion?

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: We start thinking about what is missing on our table. What is it that we would like to see here next? Once we narrow down on a few products we do a customer survey to get a sense of what our customers would like to see next in the line-up. With the product finalised we look at the market and understand the latest and best in the market. We start with the visit to the farmers/ producers location no matter how far the place is located. One of the founders is sure to pay a visit and get detailed information about the process. Once the initial audit is confirmed we sit down and understand the business objectives and current clients that the farmer is serving. If everything checks out, we will spend more time with the producers to understand their ideas about how they want to do business and see if their objectives are aligned with us. Once the launch pipeline is ready we start with the product in the next slot available with the sales team.

What makes the cold chain system of ‘Happy Nature’ exceptional to ensure the delivery of the purest, freshest and healthiest products.

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: As we are serving pure and unadulterated milk managing the logistics becomes very crucial for the entire business. People sometimes feel that if they are paying a premium for the milk it should not get curdled or should last longer without boiling, but the fact is exactly opposite.

More nutritious the milk, more are the chances of it getting spoilt if left unattended.

To ensure that all our customers are getting what we promise them we have maintained a tight cold-chain right up to the doorstep of the customer. We use specially crafted thick-walled glass bottles to maintain the temperature of the milk, the bags in which the delivery executives carry the bottles and other milk-based products are completely insulated to keep the bottle chilled. We are especially careful these days due to the pandemic and we use only our own delivery fleet and not outsourced parties for daily deliveries.

Please share about the concept of ‘Farm in box Micro Lettuce’.

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: Happy Nature Farm in Box is a unique concept of developing iron-rich Micro Lettuce grown in a Hydroponic System (water-based, nutrient-rich solution without the use of soil). It is delivered within 24 hours of harvesting and is grown with zero use of pesticides & nurtured with RO water.

What all techniques and technology is been used at ‘Happy Nature’ to obtain the purest and healthiest form of Honey.

Parth Singh and Sahil Chopra: We primarily have two categories of honey – Monofloral and Certified Organic Honey.

Monofloral is honey produced by bees from a single type of flower and hence the honey has natural flavours based on the nectar of that flower. Within this we currently have Lychee, Tulsi, Neem, Ber, Ajwain and Eucalyptus Honey. We keep the bee boxes in isolated locations with only a singular form of the plantation. This results in natural mono-floral honey. It can have excerpts from other flowers are the process is not human controlled but it has the essence of the primary crop and that’s why its associated to that particular plant.

Organic honey is sourced from Rudraprayag and here the village in Guptakashi is organic certified and the different flowers that grow in the farm result in the honey being multi-flora honey

The best part about the process is that it is completely natural. No specialised machines or hi-tech mixers are used here. We pride ourselves in providing you the healthiest and purest version of this naturally available product.
