Traditional cake mixing start off the festive season

23th October 2018, It’s not yet Christmas, the intoxicating aroma of the Annual Cake Mixing Ceremony by the poolside of the Novotel Goa Resorts & Spa brought alive the rich tradition and unveiled the spirit of the festive season. The ritual began at 5 pm at the alfresco and the invitees spiritedly donned their gloves and aprons and surrounded the tables which had all the ingredients ready for the cake mix.

Mr. Rohan Sable, General Manager Novotel Goa Shrem Hotel and Novotel Goa Resorts & Spa along with Executive Sous Chef- Siddarth Noronha, Pastry Chef- Yogesh Deshpande and the hotel staff led the guests to the mixing table. Everyone was dressed in typical Chefs attire of hats and aprons amidst tradition and fanfare. Guests and colleagues together rolled up their sleeves and put their hands in the mixing pots as pairs of enthusiastic hands crushed and patted, flipped and tossed, pressed and over-turned the dry fruits including the omega-3 rich walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts, pistas, dates, raisins, apricot, figs, orange peels, prunes and cranberries. Accompanied with lot of cheering and camaraderie, many bottles of rum imported red wine was gradually added to the mix and sweet aromas filled the air.

After about an hour, the sloshed dry fruits were transferred into huge air tight drums to be stored away until the beginning of December to be transformed into delicious heart-warming Christmas cake.

General Manager Mr. Rohan Sable said, “The tradition of a cake mixing remarks the beginning of the festive season, I wish one and all a joyful festive season in Goa.”
