Smartphone as hotel key room- the emerging trend at Hilton hotels

Very soon smartphone is going to be used as hotel key room.

The world’s largest hotel chain Hilton Worldwide, is going to introduce this service at its Indian properties in year 2017.

This feature will enable guests to completely escape the reception queues and check-in formalities.

Guest will use their smartphones to directly go to their room without waiting at the front desk to get a room key. They can use bluetooth and press their phone against the door. The knob will open the door.

Kaushik Vardharajan, VP Hilton (development India) said that digital check-in and room selection have been the features provided at Hilton. Now the digital key will be there for Hilton guest loyalty programme members.

Since members’ credit card and personal details are already with the hotel so there is no need for them to go to the front desk for the formalities.

At present Hilton has 15 properties in India. It has further plan to double the number shortly.
Once the Smartphone hotel key hit up, other big Indian hospitality players are likely to go for the same.
