Though the two cultures may be incredibly diverse in many ways, their proximity, location and geography make their cuisine quite similar. The major similarity being the use of lentils. Both these cuisines depend a lot on lentils as they are readily available, add unique flavours and are extremely nutritious. The ever-changing climate also influences the cuisine to a large degree, with dishes specific for colder and warmer weather.
