Zomato does a Netflix, to launch 18 original shows

Zomato is all set to launch 18 original shows over the course of the next three months, starting Monday.

This will be available in the new ‘Videos’ tab in the Zomato app. These will be categorized by genre, letting users watch 3-15 minute videos across shows, recipes and sneak peek restaurant stories. The company will launch more than 2000 videos that include Zomato Originals, which will be available to stream in India, while sneak peeks and recipe videos can be accessed anywhere in the world. The shows will be available in English and Hindi.

In a statement, the Gurgaon based company said that the shows will be around food and will include comedy, reality, fiction, advice and celebrity interviews.


Here’s a list of what you can see:

Food and You with Sanjeev Kapoor: Known as India’s best-known chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, will have a three-minute daily show that breaks various food myths.
Banake Dikha with Sumukhi Suresh: Best known for her stand-up comics, not many know that she is a nutritionist too, now Sumukhi will teach you how to get the basics of your food right.
Grandmaster Chef with Sahil Shah: Standup-comedian Sahil Shah will learn and teach you old recipes from his grandmother and everyone else’s in town.
Starry meals with Janice: Actor Janice Sequeira will enter some Bollywood kitchens as they feed her their personal favourites. Diana Penty, Tapsee Pannu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rajkummar Rao and Armaan Malik are some of the stars you can catch in this show.
Race Against the App: Neville Shah, Aadar Malik and Kautuk Srivastava will racing against an order, trying to beat the clock to win and make it funny too.

Dude, where’s the food with Jordindian: The stars from the the YouTube show Jordindian, will come together to tell you their ideas about ordering food.
